CONTRIBUTION

Making everyday money habits feel shared, visible, and achievable.

As Lead Product Designer, the mandate was to help MBH Bank launch its first native Family Banking app in a low digital‑maturity organization with an unrealistic 6‑month deadline, fragmented planning, and rigid legacy systems.

Strategic & Organizational Leadership

Reframed a chaotic initial business plan into a clear product and design roadmap for the entire product organization, aligning business, product, design, and development on scope, priorities, and realistic delivery expectations. Introduced and facilitated cross‑functional workshops and agile ceremonies, creating a shared way of working where stakeholders openly discussed plans, risks, and trade‑offs. Used UX evangelism and coaching to upskill the internal team in modern product development practices, laying foundations for sustainable design maturity beyond the 3‑month engagement.

DesignOps & Technical Enablement

Restructured DesignOps by clarifying roles, workflows, and expectations through a skill matrix and better estimation practices (e.g., planning poker, quick wins), improving predictability and focus. Influenced the design system team to spin up a new design system and UI kit, unblocking progress and enabling a modern experience despite significant legacy platform constraints. Led the end‑to‑end product design using the Double Diamond framework, from research and problem framing to core flows, high‑fidelity UI, and art direction, while closely supporting developers during implementation.

Research‑Driven Product Decisions

Orchestrated quantitative and qualitative research with an external vendor (120‑respondent survey and prototype tests) on parents and 14–18‑year‑olds to ground decisions in real usage patterns and expectations. Used insights to refine and de‑risk key features (for example, challenging the “Tasks” concept when research showed poor fit with real family reward practices), demonstrating a willingness to protect user value over feature wish‑lists.

Soft Skills & Culture Change

Acted as a neutral facilitator between business, design, and engineering, reducing friction caused by legacy constraints and helping teams negotiate trade‑offs without losing sight of user experience. Created psychological safety in collaborative sessions so designers, product managers, and developers felt comfortable voicing doubts and proposing unconventional ideas, which shifted the culture toward more collaborative, design‑driven decision‑making.
